Background Information:

The Micro-Solve chemical is pump-fed from approximately fifteen (15) different stations throughout the City into the sanitary sewer collection system to help prevent grease build-up in key areas of our wastewater infrastructure. These chemicals have been determined to be safe for our wastewater treatment facilities based on a recent study. Other chemicals used by the City to a lesser extent are jet-fed and used only on an as-needed basis.

The City recommends awarding four (4) additional automatic renewals to Contract 224-294, which was approved by Resolution 2024-202R, for an estimated amount of $82,500 for a one-year period.  The estimated contract amount will remain at $82,500 annually.  Therefore, the estimated total contract amount is $412,500 over the course of the five (5) year contract term.

The Local Government Code, Section 252.022(a)(7)(A) permits a limited exemption from the competitive bidding process if the items to be purchased are available from only one source. Micro-Solve is only available from Troy Scott Najar, dba Evergreen Southwest (EGSW), per the attached sole source letter.
