Background Information:
As a Direct Recipient of the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) the City must demonstrate a coordinated approach for the planning of public transportation in the region. The FTA requires all Direct Recipients to have a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Metropolitan Planning Organization for the service area in which the Direct Recipient provides public transportation. This MOU with the Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) and Texas Department of Transportation - Public Transportation Division (TxDOT-PTN) outlines the roles and responsibilities of each party when carrying out this planning process and satisfies the FTA requirements.
The MOU details the roles and responsibilities of each party to the agreement. This MOU ratifies existing planning practices among the parties.
The CAMPO Transportation Policy Board will consider approval of this MOU following the City Council’s consideration/approval of this item. Following CAMPO, then TxDOT-PTN will consider and approve through administrative action.
