Background Information:
On October 15, 2024 City Council approved Vision SMTX, the City’s Comprehensive Plan. This Development Code amendment considers potential amendments to implement the Comprehensive Plan. The amendment also incorporates direction from City Council and City Council Committees, revisions to the Texas Local Government Code following the 2025 Legislative Session, and process and text improvements identified by various City departments.
Approval of this item authorizes staff to begin the code amendment process to draft and evaluate amendments. Prior to any action on this item, public notice will be provided in accordance with the Texas Local Government Code and the Development Code. The code amendment process will be as follows (dates TBD):

- Updates to City Boards/Commissions
- Planning and Zoning Commission Public Hearing and Recommendation
