Background Information:
The scope of the project includes construction services to build a new underground distribution system to increase the reliability of the wastewater treatment plant. Once this system is in service, the electric utilities within the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) will be completely underground, with feeders from two independent substation locations. One feeder is a newly rebuilt overhead circuit from the south, while the primary feeder is a new underground circuit from the north. The project also provides for future electrical needs when expanding the wastewater treatment plant.
This contract is the second phase (the initial phase was initiated pursuant to the Resolution attached) to completing the work for the WWTP electrical backup distribution feed. This phase consists of ductbanks, transformer pads, and piers for the electrical switchgear building within the WWTP, and lighting within the plant as well as along Animal Shelter Road.
Invitation for Bid 221-028 was issued on November 22, 2020 for the WWTP Electric Backup Feed Distribution project and on January 28, 2021, two (2) bids were received. Award is recommended to the lowest responsive bidder, Rural Electric, Inc., Mesa, Arizona in the amount of $1,652,864.
