Background Information:
This resolution authorizes staff to submit an application for the TWDB Water Supply and Infrastructure Grant in the not to exceed amount of $23,000,000.
In June 2021, Council approved an engineering agreement to design the Blanco Vista Elevated Storage Tank (EST) project consisting of a new 1.0-million-gallon elevated storage tank located toward the northern end of Blanco Vista and will connect to a previously installed waterline that ties into Blanco Vista Blvd. This project is tied to Alliance Regional Water Authority (ARWA) by an Interlocal Agreement and will be constructed concurrently with ARWA’s 1.5-million-gallon EST. This EST will receive water from the Carrizo-Wilcox Aquifer through ARWA.
Staff intends to submit an application for up to $23M to the TWDB by July 30th, 2026. If awarded, the TWDB grant will cover 100% of the construction costs. The project is anticipated to begin construction 2027 and is estimated to take 12-18 months to complete.
A resolution from the governing body is required as part of the application.
