Background Information:
The City’s assets in the Redwood Substation are aged and obsolete. A substation upgrade project was approved to replace the power transformer and distribution breakers, replace the relaying and control systems, and update the substation for enhanced data acquisition. The power transformer has been purchased and is on site; the design engineering is complete; and construction bids are due this month for the installation of all components to be complete in early 2020. This purchase is for the seven substation breakers included in the project.
The Strahan Substation are similarly aged and obsolete. A capital upgrade project was approved to replace the distribution breakers, replace the relaying and control systems, and update the substation for enhanced data acquisition. This purchase is for five distribution system breakers as part of the project.
The City is authorized by the Local Government Code, Chapter 271, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs. The procurement of these circuit breakers is from Wesco Distribution, Inc., San Antonio, Texas, through the Texas Cooperative Purchasing Network (“TCPN”) contract #R142106.
Five (5) 15.5 kV R-MAG Circuit Breakers (part number MB11136LLMH5SBL4) and two (2) 15.5 kV R-MAG Circuit Breakers (part number MB11236VVGMH5SBL4) are being procured for a total cost of $131,625.
