Background Information:
The professional services agreement (Contract ID #221-105.2) in the amount of $165,640 with Ardurra Group, Inc., will provide engineering design, bid and construction phase services for the City of San Marcos (City) related to the Highway 80/ Davis Lane Utility Improvements Project.
Ardurra Group, Inc. (previously LNV) has worked on previous projects in the City of San Marcos and was selected from the Qualified Engineering Services solicitation RFQ# 221-105.
The work related to the Highway 80/Davis Lane Utility Improvements Project consists of replacing approximately 2,687 linear feet of existing 12-inch wastewater main with proposed 18-inch wastewater line from Highway 80 to McCoy’s Headquarters. The work also consists of replacing approximately 1,193 linear feet of existing 6 to 8-inch water main with proposed 12-inch water main from Jason’s Deli to Stor Stuff Self Storage.
The project is needed because the existing wastewater main diameter of 12-inches is not sufficient to service the projected future demand as per the Wastewater Master Plan. Also, the existing water main diameter of 6 to 8-inches is not sufficient to service the projected future demand as per the Water Master Plan.
This design was started in 2019 with the Linda Drive Improvements Project which is currently under construction. This project broken into 2 phases due to funding constraints. The work along Linda Drive is expected to be completed in late 2027 and the improvement for the Highway 80/ Davis Lane Utility Improvements Project will continue that utility replacement work.
The preliminary construction estimate for the Highway 80/ Davis Lane Utility Improvements Project is $6,500,000 and will be updated after the completion of 100% design. Construction is expected to start in 2028.
