Background Information:
The City of San Marcos accumulates approximately 15,000 to 20,000 cubic yards of brush in a year. The brush and materials are stockpiled at the City’s maintenance yard at 750 River Road (behind the San Marcos Animal Shelter). This service enables citizens to drop off brush and also pick up mulch as needed.
Solicitation 221-131 was issued on March 28, 2021 for wood grinding services for use throughout the City and four (4) bids were received.
Staff recommends award of an annual contract to the lowest responsible responsive bidder, Austin Wood Recycling, Cedar Park, Texas. The initial term of the contract will be for one (1) year for the estimated annual amount of $26,000 and include optional extensions for three (3) additional one (1) year terms; the total for four (4) years at an estimated amount of $104,000.
