Background Information:
The San Marcos City Council held a budget policy workshop on February 26, 2021 and in order to develop a proposed budget policy statement to guide staff and the City Manager in the development of the Fiscal Year 2021-22 budget. During the workshop, Staff provided initial assumptions to City Council for consideration and posed specific questions to which City Council provided direction.
As stated by the City charter, City Council is required to hold a workshop to discuss the budget policy and provide direction to staff by the end of February of each year. Then City Council must hold a public hearing and adopt the policy statement to be used by the City Manager as direction during the preparation of the proposed budget by the end of March.
