Background Information:
The Fleet Services Division uses Stertil-Koni Lifts in their vehicle bays to lift heavy duty trucks such as San Marcos Fire Department pumper trucks and ladder trucks, as well as dump trucks and vacuum trucks used by the Public Works Department. In the event of a failure of the current lifts, they can no longer be serviced or repaired as they have become obsolete. Therefore, the Fleet Services Division needs to purchase new mobile lifts. Currently, it takes between two (2) and three (3) months to receive the lifts once an order is placed.
The cost of the lifts is $73,160 and includes freight as well as all set-up and training. Due to market volatility, we are requesting City Council approval of up to $80,476 which considers up to a ten percent (10%) manufacturer’s price increase that could be enacted at any time prior to contract execution. The lifts are covered by the Stertil-Koni standard warranty of five (5) years on hydraulics, two (2) years on parts, and one (1) year on labor.
Pursuant to Local Government Code, Section 271.102, which authorizes the City to participate in cooperative purchasing programs, staff recommends award of this contract to Reeder Distributors, Inc., in the not-to-exceed amount of $73,160 through BuyBoard contract #629-20 plus 10% contingency of $7,316.00 for any manufacturer’s price increase.
