Background Information:

This segment of El Camino Way was dedicated and constructed as part of the Heritage Final Plat in 2022 - a multifamily development within the Cottonwood Creek Master Plan. Although it does not currently connect to the original “El Camino Way” road, it was given the same name because per the City’s adopted Transportation Master Plan, the roadways will connect eventually. In response to concerns from adjacent property owners, at their June 16th regular meeting Council gave direction to staff to rename El Camino Way on a temporary basis until such time that the roadway connects to the existing El Camino Way. Five options were suggested by Council: Crested Caracara Way; Old Johnson Farm Road; Wild Wind Way; Heritage Way, and Carlita’s Way. Staff do not recommend Wild Wind Way, Heritage Lane, or Carlita’s Way as there are already similar or identical names in the City/ Hays County.
