CITY COUNCIL GOAL

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN ELEMENT(s): [add the Plan elements and Goal # and Objective(s)]

BACKGROUND

The Texas Local Government Purchasing Cooperative (BuyBoard) has awarded a contract #432-13 for Public Safety and Fire House Supplies and Equipment to GT Distributors, Inc., located in Austin, Texas.  This process is authorized by Local Government Code, Section 271.101.

The Police Department routinely purchases ammunition for duty and training use.  As the Police Department has experienced an increase in the number of new Police Officer trainees and the number of Police Officers overall, there will be a greater need for the purchase of ammunition.  The Police Department currently needs to purchase a large order totaling $77,025.22 from GT Distributors, Inc., located in Austin, Texas, through the BuyBoard purchasing cooperative contract.

For future purchases of ammunition from GT Distributors, Inc., through the BuyBoard purchasing cooperative contract, the Police Department estimates that it will spend approximately $60,000 during FY 2017.  However, this is only an estimation based upon training sponsored by the Police Department, training courses to which our Police Officers are sent, etc.

Therefore, this request is to approve a current purchase of $77,025.22 for FY16 and to approve future purchases in FY 2017 in the estimated amount of $60,000 for a total estimated purchase amount of $137,025.22.
