Airport Master Plan
Background Information:
The need for improvements to the airport’s ramp area was identified in the 2021 airport master plan in addition to the ongoing master plan update. The city made a request to TxDOT Aviation for funding to support a project to create several dedicated taxilanes across the ramp area. This was subsequently added to TxDOT Aviation’s Capital Improvement Program with funding for 2025.
The city is now seeking financial support from TxDOT Aviation to use federal funds to support the cost of the taxilane project. The federal funds being requested by the city are funds made available to the San Marcos Regional Airport from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).
TxDOT Aviation requires a resolution from the local sponsor requesting financial assistance, which will be through reimbursement. Additionally, the City Manager must document, through designation, the City’s project manager.
The estimated cost of the project will not exceed $2,000,000 for design and construction, unless subsequently authorized. The City will be responsible for 10% of the actual cost and will be reimbursed for the remaining 90%.
