Background Information:
The 222-006 Engine 1 Purchase is for the procurement and outfitting of a fire engine from Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc. of Houston, TX through the Houston-Galveston Area Cooperative Purchasing Agreement in the amount of $789,285.00. The apparatus will be delivered approximately one (1) year after placement of the order in November 2022. This includes a net $15,114 discount for prepayment. To ensure faithful and prompt performance of the manufacturing and delivery of the engine, the City will obtain a performance bond from the vendor, Metro Fire Apparatus Specialists, Inc.
This request is to continue the Fire Department’s mission of preserving and protecting the health and safety of the community through the acquisition of equipping the station with a new pumper truck. This apparatus will replace the existing Engine 1 currently housed at Station 1 downtown.
Pursuant to the authority granted in Local Government Code 271, the City is making this procurement through the Houston-Galveston Area Cooperative purchasing contract FS12-19.
