Background Information:
The Electric Metering Department is purchasing a vacuum truck for the maintenance of water meters on the SMTXU system. This new truck is necessary due to the current annual water meter growth rate of 3% in addition to the safe and timely execution of our 10-year meter change out program, for the replacement of aging infrastructure.
The City is authorized by Local Government Code, Chapter 271, to participate in cooperative purchasing programs such as the Houston-Galveston Area Council (HGAC) purchasing cooperative. This purchase is being made from Houston Freightliner through the HGAC Contract #HT06-20 in the amount of $399,320.00.
