Background Information:

The City of San Marcos operates a permanent Hazardous Household Waste Collection Facility (“HHWCF”) and collects household hazardous waste from all Hays County residents. This program provides an environmentally safe and convenient way to dispose of household chemical wastes such as pesticides, herbicides, paints, solvents, car care products, and cleaning agents.

Due to the added and overwhelming increased use by citizen drop off, other Cities in Hays County, and due to the MS4 waste disposal requirements, the revised annual amount approved by Council on November 19, 2019 has significantly increased.

The initial solicitation was competitively bid and award was made by Council in August 2019.  This is to request Council approval for the revised estimated annual increase of $140,000 to the contract with Clean Earth of Alabama, Inc., for the remaining three (3) years of the contract or until 2024.  This annual increase will net a $18,590 increase to the current amount of $375,000 authorized by Council November 19, 2019.
