The new wastewater treatment plant project is required to treat proposed flows from the rapidly developing area in the southeast of San Marcos and may accept flows from existing adjacent basins in the future to defer improvements needed at the existing wastewater treatment plant. The new wastewater treatment plant is anticipated to treat 2 million gallons per day (MGD) initially and be expandable to 8 MGD. The City of San Marcos will utilize collaborative delivery for this project within a timeframe that can accommodate City and developer needs.
Preliminary construction costs are estimated at approximately $50-$60 million. Construction is expected to start in late 2025.
