Background Information:
On November 20, 2025, two bids were received for the Lift Station 24 Upgrades Project IFB# 2025-122. Arguijo Corporation was the apparent low bidder with a total base bid of $1,016,716.62. Based on their qualifications and references, they appear to be qualified to perform the work on this project.
This project proposes to rehabilitate the lift station including pump replacement, installation of Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) pumps, electrical and instrumentation upgrades, wet well and valve vault rehabilitation, and installation of a new bypass pumping connection to increase the capacity and reliability of the facility. In April 2024, Council authorized Freese and Nichols, Inc. to provide engineering services for Wastewater System Improvements such as Lift Station 24 Upgrades and they prepared the design and bid package for this construction contract.
Based on the increased flows contributed by new development in the vicinity of Lift Station 24 in the Cottonwood Creek basin east of SH 123 and rapid growth in the southern part of San Marcos, the current lift station is approaching capacity and needs upgrades to handle the increased wastewater flows. When the proposed improvements are constructed the lift station will be able to serve the growth in the sewer basin out to the planning horizon to accommodate other future wastewater system improvement projects to provide extended service, handle increase flows, and protect the environment in the Cottonwood Creek basin east of SH123.
Construction is anticipated to start in February 2026 and be completed by the end of 2026.
