Background Information:

The Community Development Block Grant (or CDBG) is approximately $740,000 in  federal funding allocated to the City of San Marcos annually. In order to receive the funding, the City has to decide programs and projects to be accomplished, and submit an action plan to HUD by August 16 every year. The City must hold 2 public hearings and a 30-day comment period when developing the plan.

After a brief staff presentation about CDBG, the first public hearing will be held March 3, to receive general comments about community needs and to accept ideas from the public on possible projects and programs for CDBG.

The application deadline for agencies was March 2. A staff committee will review the applications and consider input from the March 3 public hearing to create recommended funding allocations. These will be presented to City Council April 7, and a 2nd public hearing will be held at that time to receive comments on the specific allocations.
