BACKGROUND:
Two (2) bids were received on August 25, 2016 for the Victory Gardens Subdivision-Northern Sect. Underground Electric/Telecommunications Duct Bank Project (IFB 216-319). The Engineer, Carl Bain of Bain, Medina, Bain has reviewed the bids and recommends awarding the contract to the low bidder Rockin Q Construction, LLC in the amount of $896,402.
This bid includes the construction of an underground electrical/telecommunication duct bank on Patton from IH-35 to Railroad, on Roosevelt from Patton to S. Guadalupe, and on Wavell from Patton to the dead-end; along with the associated transformer pads, primary pull boxes, and secondary pull boxes. These areas required underground installation due to close proximity of homes and limited right-of-way for the proposed street section.
After completion of the duct bank, electric service will be transferred underground and power poles removed in preparation for the Victory Gardens Subdivision Reconstruction project. Telecoms will be required to go underground in City conduit or find an alternate overhead route. At this time we do not have a final determination from the telecoms on which option they will pursue. New decorative street lights will be installed and energized in this section.
The estimated construction time is 120 calendar days. The Victory Gardens Subdivision project will bid and begin construction shortly thereafter.
