Background Information:
Led by Texas State University, the “Piloting Innovative Community Co-Creation in San Marcos, Texas” research study will provide city staff, researcher(s), community members, and stakeholders direct experience and/or insight on a different community engagement model. The research study will form an Equity Cabinet that puts underserved or underrepresented community members at the center to learn about transportation related issues and develop a framework that can be utilized to inform ongoing and future transportation and transit-related plans.
The research study is scheduled to begin with recruitment in summer and end in early 2025, providing an equity framework to aid with defining scope of work, design framework, and timing of future transportation and transit related plans, as well as within broader community engagement and equity strategies.
City Council received a briefing on this project at the May 7, 2024 Council Work Session and provided direction to bring back this Interlocal Agreement for consideration.
