Stormwater Master Plan
Background Information:
This request is to obtain Council approval for Authorization for Change in Service (ACIS #2) to engineering contract 219-070 with HDR for the additional design and construction phase services for four sites identified in the Stormwater Master Plan. Phase 1 of this contract developed recommendations to correct drainage issues at seven (7) sites. Based upon Phase 1, estimated construction costs and available funding, the following four projects will move forward
• Bishop/Prospect Street Drainage Improvements - New storm drain improvements along Bishop and Prospect streets consisting of new pipe, curb inlets and a 4-way open inlet.
• S. LBJ Drive at Willow Springs Bridge Repair - Repair of spalls and cracks in sections of the existing concrete box culverts.
• Hutchinson Storm Drain Improvements (LBJ to Guadalupe) - New storm drain system including pipes and inlets on E. Hutchison Street (near Fire Station No.1) to replace a collapsed line and provide a stormwater connection to the Kissing Alley project.
• Drainage Ditch Outfall to Cradock Storm Drain - New storm drain to connect an existing ditch to a storm drain located on Craddock Avenue. Will improve drainage complaints in the Castle Forrest neighborhood.
It is anticipated the projects will be grouped into two construction packages in order to achieve economy of scale for construction.
The current schedule is for the designs to be completed by October and construction starting in December 2021.
