Wastewater Master Plan
Background Information:
In January 2015, city council adopted the current wastewater master plan which has served as a planning tool to direct wastewater improvements in line with the expected growth of the city. A new wastewater master plan is now required to update the city’s understanding of how the city is growing and how changes in wastewater flow and generation are impacting the system now and in the future.
Hence, this will be comprehensive plan for the next 20 years of the City’s wastewater infrastructure. The master plan will provide the recommended projects necessary in the short, medium, and long term to incorporate growth-related capacity requirements, wastewater treatment plant recommendations and rehabilitation improvements.
The master plan (Contract 222-231) is expected to be complete by the early part of 2024. Freese and Nichols are considered as the most qualified engineering firm (selected from the 2019 Qualified On-Call Water and Wastewater Engineering Services Firms approved by City Council) to undertake the work given their knowledge of the sewer system from completing the previous master plan.
The city has negotiated a fair and reasonable price for these master planning services in the amount not to exceed $696,480.
This on-call agreement includes provisions for additional tasks that may arise during the course of the master plan and includes an on-going maintenance task after the master plan is complete. The additional tasks will be authorized on an “as-needed” basis and will be priced in accordance with the approved and negotiated hourly rates.
