Background Information:

Modeled after a successful experience in King County Washington, the “Piloting Innovative Community Co-Creation in San Marcos, Texas” research pilot led by Texas State University aimed to provide city staff, researcher(s), community members, and stakeholders direct experience and insight on a different community engagement model. The research pilot formed an Equity Cabinet that put underserved or underrepresented community members at the center to learn about transportation related issues and develop a framework that can be utilized to inform ongoing and future transportation and transit-related plans. City staff provided the Equity Cabinet with technical information through presentations over the course of six meetings. Members of the Equity Cabinet will be present to brief City Council on their process and provide the recommendations discussed by the group.
