Background Information:
***Please note that the total expenditure budget for Resource Recovery (highlighted) was corrected for second reading of this ordinance. The amendment figure and Exhibit A did not change.***
A budget is an ever-changing document. It is a good planning document, but changes can occur in any given year that it is often difficult to complete all the programs and activities that policy makers and departments want to achieve to service the public.
During the FY22 budget process, staff communicated that several items would be brought back mid-year for Council consideration. These items were also reviewed during the budget policy workshops that occurred in mid-February. Actual sales tax revenue for FY22 has exceeded budget for the first 6 months of the year and can support the additional 2% cost of living adjustment requested for city employees, an increase in public safety overtime and the additional positions requested.
