Background Information:
A change order to the existing contract 221-183: Sessom Drainage & Street Improvements is required to add Hopkins St/Guadalupe St Intersection Safety Improvements project. This change order will add a westbound left turn lane at the intersection and improve traffic operations through Downtown San Marcos.
TxDOT will mill and overlay Hopkins St from Guadalupe St to IH 35 and restripe the westbound left turn lane at Hopkins/Guadalupe intersection. City will upgrade the existing signal to accommodate left turn, construct ADA compliant curb ramps, install APS pedestrian push buttons, mill & overlay and restripe Hopkins St between Fredericksburg and Guadalupe. Due to the timing of the TxDOT work, the city is required to change order this work into an existing contract in order to complete this work ahead of TxDOT.
Tentative schedule to complete these safety improvements is Summer 2024.
