Background Information:
City Council reviewed and discussed its 2025-2026 Strategic Plan at its Visioning Session held on January 30-31, 2025. At that session, Council agreed to keep the following strategic goals:
- Quality of Life & Sense of Place
- Economic Vitality
- Public Safety, Core Services & Fiscal Excellence
- Mobility & Connectivity
- Environmental Protection
Staff has made some proposed revisions to reflect feedback received from City Council at the session. They are reflected in the attached tracked changes version of the document.
Council Visioning and development of the Strategic Plan is the first step of the 9-month budget cycle. The process starts at a high level with Visioning and Budget Policy. These meetings provide the City Council the opportunity to provide the parameters of what is included in the budget that will be presented later in the year. Information from the Strategic Plan is included in the Budget Policy presentation and will be used to focus Council and staff priorities for the next 18 months.
Once Council approves the plan, staff will add specific tasks to accomplish each strategy. Staff will provide quarterly updates to Council regarding progress.
