Background Information:
Annually the City receives about $713,000 in Community Development Block Grant, or CDBG, funding. This amount stays relatively steady each year so we expect to receive approximately this same amount for Fiscal Year 2025. The City must propose specific projects and programs for the entire $713,000 in new funding when we submit the annual action plan to HUD before August 16 of this year.
The allocation of CDBG funding takes place through an annual application and review process. Applications will be received by May 6, and the review committee will meet May 16 to create allocation recommendations. These recommendations will be presented to City Council in a public hearing on June 4, followed by a public comment period, and then Council’s final decision on August 6.
In the April 16 work session, staff will be requesting City Council guidance on freeing up funding from prior years to be re-allocated during the FY 2025 CDBG funding cycle. The guidance received will let the review committee know how much funding is available for project recommendations.
The attached presentation describes the amounts under consideration and the programs currently funded.
