Background Information:
The promotion of Chase Stapp to Director of Public Safety on September 3, 2019 created a vacancy in the Chief of Police position for the city. Assistant Chief Bob Klett was appointed as interim Chief of Police by Mr. Lumbreras effective on that same date and was later confirmed by Council. The Texas civil service statute, Section 143.013 of the Texas Local Government Code, requires confirmation by the governing body of the appointment of an individual as police chief. After an extensive and very competitive search process, Mr. Lumbreras has selected Stan Standridge to fill the City's Chief of Police vacancy effective November 16, 2020 contingent upon this confirmation.
